The Story of Burberry For San Diego Handbag Buyers
March 21, 2011 by Administrator · Leave a Comment
Burberry is one of the hottest brands for women in San Diego who are looking to buy and sell designer handbags. Some San Diego pawn shops and consignment stores say that Burberry is even hotter right now that pre-owned Louis Vuitton handbags. But just what is the story behind Burberry?
Burberry is a British luxury fashion house, manufacturing clothing, fragrance, handbags, and fashion accessories. The company has branded stores and franchises around the world. Burberry was founded in 1856, when Thomas Burberry, a former draper’s apprentice, opened his own store in Basingstoke, Hampshire, England.
In 1911, Burberry became the outfitters for Roald Amundsen, the first man to reach the South Pole, and Ernest Shackleton, who led a 1914 expedition to cross Antarctica. A Burberry gabardine jacket was worn by George Mallory on his ill-fated attempt to scale Mount Everest in 1924.
In 1914 Burberry was commissioned by Britain’s War Office to adapt its officer’s coat to suit the conditions of contemporary warfare. This resulted in the creation of the “trench coat”. After the war, the Burberry trench coat became popular with regular folks and remains so today.
During the 1970s, the Burberry brand became popular with rebellious British youngsters and football hooligans. However, in the 1990s Burberry began rebranding itself with advertisements in top fashion magazines like GQ, Esquire, Vogue, Tatler and Harper’s Bazaar, with ads that include celebrities such as Kate Moss, George Craig, and Emma Watson.
Today, Burberry operates under 5 brands: Burberry London (the primary brand), Burberry Brit, Burberry Prorsum, Burberry Sport, and Thomas Burberry. Luxury San Diego pawn shops like San Diego Jewelry Buyers pay top dollar for pre-owned Burberry items.

Quick Tips: Getting Cash for Your Gold Bling
August 5, 2009 by Administrator · Leave a Comment
Cash for gold isn’t just a hot trend in San Diego. Shoppers around the country have been trading in their gold bling for quick cash. In an article recently published by The Denver Post, the newspaper lists the following tips for when selling your gold jewelry:
—Unless the piece is of a high-quality maker, such as Cartier or Tiffany’s, you’re looking at scrap gold pricing. Forget what you paid for it.
—Remove gemstones from your gold jewelry unless they’re too small to sell separately.
—Know the price of gold the day you’re going out to sell. The New York gold markets close at 1 p.m. Pacific time, so sell your gold in the afternoon.
—Weigh your gold jewelry in bulk. Keep similar karat gold together. You might get a better price.
—Do the gold math. Know the 100 percent value to see if offers are fair to you.
—Get gold buying offers from several stores, whether jewelry or pawn shops.
—Avoid online gold buyers. Unless you’re selling in high volumes, you’ll not likely get a better price.
—Never let strangers view gold jewelry at your home. Consider a bank and safety deposit box for security.
—Walk away if you don’t like the gold buyer’s offer. Gold is constantly on the move.
